South Korea’s CJ ENM has appointed Angela Killoren, chief executive officer of its US subsidiary, CJ ENM America, to lead a task force within Endeavor Content, the Hollywood film studio that the entertainment giant acquired last year.

The task force will lead an effort to complete post-acquisition integration. This marks the first time a CJ ENM America CEO was named as head of such task forces within firms acquired by the South Korean company in the US.

Killoren, born in 1970, studied East Asian studies at Columbia University in New York. After graduation, she briefly worked at investment bank Bear Stearns and then started her marketing career by joining CJ ENM America as senior vice president of marketing in 2011.

Killoren played a key role in CJ ENM’s takeover of Endeavor Content, the production division of Endeavor Group.

The US holding company was looking for a buyer for Endeavor Content to address a conflict of interest arising from owning both an actor agency and a production studio. Endeavor finally agreed to sell 80% of its production arm for $775 million to CJ ENM in November 2021, with expectations that the combination of the two companies will create a good synergy.


Before her current position, Killoren held chief marketing officer and chief operating officer roles, working to promote K-content, such as Korean dramas, movies, and music. She is also known as a person who first introduced K-pop group BTS to the US.

Under Killoren’s leadership, Endeavor Content’s task force will play a leading role to kick-start projects that develop content for global distribution.

Endeavor Content is one of the few production studios in Hollywood that also have distribution capabilities. The company has its production and distribution bases in 19 countries around the world, distributing its own content across various global channels and streaming services. This strong distribution network will also enable CJ ENM to have the full value chain of its content business.

The task force will also work on a project to fuse content made by Endeavor Content for US and European audiences with CJ ENM’s Asian content. Endeavor Content previously participated in production and distribution of hit movies and TV shows such as La La Land, Killing Eve and The Night Manager.

“The Endeavor Content acquisition is expected to accelerate expansion of CJ ENM’s content business into overseas,” an industry insider said. “The effect of the acquisition will likely be felt in the company’s financial results this year.” (Reporting by Nuri Moon)
